"Providing the gift of music to underserved children with a hunger to play."

History

Impressed by the volume of talented musicians performing on the streets in greater Washington D.C., Hungry for Music founder Jeff Campbell, organized his first benefit concert on April 15, 1992. The purpose of this concert was to raise funds and collect food for the National Coalition for the Homeless, while simultaneously providing exposure to the most impressive street musicians and other performers in the D.C. area.

Following the success of that first concert, and witnessing the healing power of music for both the player and the listener in general, Campbell decided to focus his energy on inspiring perhaps the most important group of American citizens – under-privileged children. Armed with this vision of providing a creative musical outlet to children who would not normally have the means, Campbell incorporated Hungry for Music as a Non-Profit organization in 1994.

Since that time, Hungry for Music has brought the healing quality of music to thousands of people through its musical instrument donations, concerts, and workshops. Our footprint has expanded beyond the United States. We support our programs through memberships, benefit concerts and events, raffles, and the sale of Hungry for Music produced compact discs. Our sincerest desire at Hungry for Music is that our instruments and opportunities, delivered to eager hands, will inspire the recipients and enrich their lives
