Hungry For Music is a 2010 entrant in the Pepsi Refresh Project. Visit the Get Instrumental! Pepsi page to vote and check our current ranking. We’ve peaked at #1 in the Arts & Culture subcategory and #7 overall. If we finish in the top 2 overall then we will earn a $250,ooo grant from Pepsi.

Get Instrumental! targets 10 U.S. cities — each with a lively music scene, an under-served population and an existing network of Hungry For Music contacts. In each city, we plan to establish a collection center for musical instruments. Radio sponsors, press contacts and social media will help publicize the campaign. In the fall, we will host a sizeable benefit concert in each Get Instrumenal! city. Attendees can donate musical instruments for free tickets. Concert video and music downloads will continue to draw people to the campaign for the end-of-year push.

Evaluated by knowledgeable volunteers, usable instruments will be distributed on a local level first. Others come to our Washington DC headquarters for low-cost repair by volunteer technicians. HFM’s nationwide database of donors, recipients, music organizations, and school systems will help us identify programs and students in need. By March 2011, 10,000 instruments will reach new homes.Pep
